New Year

So I've noticed I haven't blogged in a while. 2015 was a fairly decent year. We've been busy with school, dance, piano, Jason's activities, etc.

At the end of this past year I wanted to make some changes to myself. I got a FitBit and started working out. I cut out soda all together back in September and never looked back. I'm happy to say that I've lost 15 lbs. so far!

I look forward to 2016 for many reasons. Katy will be competing in 4 dance competitions, I will be doing Trek Up The Tower plus I've signed up for 3 - 10K runs! I've been working out a lot and changing some of my eating habits and other some things so get to be a healthier me.

I hope to blog more about my adventures in 2016!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year

Katy with her TOP Starz shirt
2012 was a busy year with good and bad things happening like it is every year.

Katy was chosen to go to Nationals again for Talent On Parade. She was a member of the TOP Starz Jr. team performing in St. Louis, MO. She competed with her solo, Asleep and won Elite Top 1st!!! We hope to be going back to Nationals this coming year!

Katy competed in several dance competitions this past year receiving high awards and even placing in the top 10. Jason and I are very proud of her. She works very hard in the studio. But she also works hard in school too. Katy received Student of Character for her grade and received high grades on her report card! She reads almost two grade levels abover her own and a grade higher in math! This year besides dance she is playing the violin and taking piano lessons. She has been flying through her piano books and is excelling at that as well! One thing about Katy is that when she does something, she exceeds expectations and is really good at it!

Jason has done several races this past year but his favorite was doing the Market to Market run. He was on a team of 7 people that ran from the Old Market in Omaha to the Haymarket in Lincoln. He'll be doing this run again this fall along with Trek Up the Tower in Feb, and the Half Marathon in May.

I'm busy working my full time job at Cedars Youth Services and working part time at Dance By Design. We moved to a bigger home this year and have so many new students! I'm one of the office assistants but my new role is helping with the dance team. I'm behind the scenes in charge of props, helping with accounts, ordering and fundraising. It's a fun job and I love being hands on with it! I'm also working on my "side business" of craft projects, making hats and scaves and other things that I sell. I love doing it and it's a great stress reliever!

Jason, David and Omar

We lost a dear friend this past year. He was a dance dad to a girl that we consider our own daughter. It was a difficult loss, one that we still have a hard time wrapping our heads around but we know that things happen for a reason and he's in a better place. We miss you Big Daddy!

Here's hoping to a great 2013! We have a lot planned this year with Katy's dance competitions, orchestra recitals, piano recitals and Jason with his running and Half Marathon. I have lots of craft projects that I'm doing for myself and for other people. Plus keeping up with our family, though it's small, there's always something going on!

Happy New Year and God Bless!

Nutcracker

It's that time of year again, that's right, Nutcracker! My daughter Katy is very fortunate to be dancing in Ballet Nebraska's version of The Nutcracker. She will be playing a baby lamb in the performance at Iowa Western Community College and will be a toy soldier in the performance at Omaha Music Hall all this weekend.

With this performance come several weekends of rehearsal which are under our belt but this week is a very busy week. Tech week! We travel to Iowa every day for rehearsals that last several hours and we are very lucky to be staying with family in Omaha so we don't have to commute from Lincoln every day.

I am gettting a lot of crafting done while Katy is at rehearsal. I'm working on scarves, hats and Katy's leg warmers. But Friday and Saturday I get to do what I love to do, be a stage mom! I'll be backstage with the girls getting them in their costume and on stage when it's their turn.
I am sad about missing our "other" daughter's first dance performance at UNL this Friday. Maryn is performing in two pieces at UNL's fall performance but thankfully Jason will be going to support her for all of us.

So I'm off to pack for our long weekend!

So very busy

I haven't blogged much just because I have been so busy! Katy is very busy with school work, piano, violin and of course dance. She's doing 5 competition pieces this season so her down time is spent practicing in our basement!

I am working on hats, scarves, leg warmers, rhinestoning dance wear and spraypainting props. I love doing this and some of the things I'm doing I'm selling to help pay for Katy's competition costs.

So thought I would be quick and say all is well, just super busy but once I get more time, I'll show pictures of things I'm working on!

Projects galore!

I love doing craft projects whether its for the studio or for my "side business". My lastest projects are spray painting and glittering balloon sticks for Katys small jazz group, knitting a turkey hat and coming up with more knitting ideas. I have a pattern for a hat with ear flaps, one for leg warmers, a scarf and a snowman. I'm also going go make a Husker tie blanket, and Christmas treat bags.

My biggest wish would be that I could take my little side business and do it full time. Maybe one day I will. I love doing crafts and looking on Pinterest for new ideas.

Plus the money I make goes towards Katys dance account!

So projects galore I go!
